cold and lonely I shiver
questioning what I have become
but through the darkness, persistently
reaches a Pure and Holy One
He calls me in my darkness
and too, He calls in dreams
He seeks my soul to bind to his
and for me he intervenes
through my friends he binds me his
and through my sin he cares
through little things he speaks to me
though oft I’m unawares
When love, that mighty weapon
cuts through the thick black night
a see the times my faith was lit
Again I feel it burning bright
He binds me his with a quiet peace
when I in holy places choose to stand
though too, through my night he comes
When I have let go his loving hand
to be sure, I feel his grace
His hand still reaches for me to find
and though sadly I oft forget
He passes through darkness for me to bind
