What of the Quiet?

We live in a world of shouting (advertising), yelling (sitcoms), non-stop words (radio & TV), and where we give credit & priority to those who say the most (authors in journals, newspapers, etc), a world where people talk rather than listen, where my viewpoint is king and conversations exist merely to convert the nonbeliever.

But what of the quiet?

What about those who say the least and DO the most? What of actions? What of silence? What of the soft & gentle moments where you find out who you really are? What of those self-defining times that require no words? Where’s the place for a still small voice in an anxious large world?

What of the quiet?

Day 7: Goals, Direction, Common Interests, Beauty

I’m coming to learn more deeply each day that sometimes all we need as human beings is the soft and sincere smile of understanding.

To be validated about our feelings, to be loved and to love, to grow in intimacy towards our fellow man…and woman :o) : this is the purpose of life.

It’s within this environment of beauty, trust and love that we can truly become what we’re meant to be…much more than we can become on our own.

It’s in this air of understanding that we can breath in the clean and purifying Spirit of God. We come to know ourselves in this gentle environment. We learn of our God and of our brothers and sisters. It’s here where we can reach a state of self awareness and actualization.

You search a long time to discover your own goals. Through sharing them with others you crystallize them, reform them, build some and discard others.

When you meet people along the path of life who carry the same goals, interest and directions within their hearts, it’s almost as if your meeting was not entirely coincidental.

It’s these people that bring beauty into life. It’s these people that help make your world make sense and calm the ever constant fears that can so readily creep into our lives. It’s these people that give life richness and meaning.

Day 4: Honesty, Trust & Communication

Walking blindfolded, but I have trust
In the arm and voice that guides me

Without sight I see the soul
My eyes cannot lead astray

Focused on her words, her thoughts, her heart
A key to communicating is revealed

Speaking openly, I too address some feelings
Fear fades, understanding is felt & peace resides

In it all, honesty is offered willingly
To grease the wheels of this beautiful friendship

These three bring safety, security and love:
Honesty, Communication & Trust

~ My eyes were opened just a little more today Em. Thank you!

Day 2: Service

picture books for unmet kids
dishes done together
open ears for lonely hearts
smiles changing weather

Boiled down, its pure intent
A goodness for mankind,
With one and one united
There’s a joy in life to find

a peach with dripping goodness
sandy shells with pearly tint
sharing hidden spiderwebs
a picture of innocence

Honest words give service
An honest heart does too
Thus your gift of kindness
Has drawn me close to you
